Fantasy football draft: Where to target New York Giants WR Kenny Golladay

Analyzing New York Giants WR Kenny Golladay’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

New York Giants WR Kenny Golladay moves to the Big Apple in 2021 after spending his first four season with the Detroit Lions. Below, we look at Kenny Golladay‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Golladay was limited to just five games in his final season with the Lions as we didn’t see him again after Nov. 1 due to a hip injury. That helped end a modest two-season streak of 1,000-yard receiving campaigns, including 65 grabs, 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2019.

He was also targeted 235 times in two seasons from 2018-19.

It will be interesting to see how Golladay jells with QB Daniel Jones with Big Blue. He had quite a rapport with QB Matthew Stafford and others in Detroit, and he was still very productive in the latter part of ’19 when catching balls from the likes of QB Chase Daniel, QB David Blough, etc. …

Golladay’s ADP: 78.80

Golladay’s fantasy appeal is rather marginal heading into 2021, and it’s due to a variety of reasons.

First, I don’t think most fantasy managers trust Jones to be a quarterback who throws for a ton of yardage, limiting Golladay’s potential. The wideout will have to compete with RB Saquon Barkley, TE Evan Engram and WR Sterling Shepard for targets.

Golladay has been the 36th to 40th wide receiver going off the board, which puts him squarely in the low-end WR3 or WR4 neighborhood in leagues of 12 or more teams.

Where should you take Golladay in your fantasy football draft?

Golladay is coming off what was a rather serious hip injury, limiting him to just four full games in 2020.

He now moves to a new team, a new offensive scheme and one which isn’t terribly interested in the downfield stuff on a regular basis. His quarterback situation is a bit of a downgrade, going from Stafford to Jones.

As mentioned above, Golladay has plenty of company. He has averaged 16.8 yards per reception in his career, but he might see shorter to intermediate routes with the G-Men.

When I saw Golladay moved to the Giants, I have to admit, I made a sour face. I mean, great for him, as the former Northern Illinois star is getting paid after several good season in the D. But I don’t like Jones as a quarterback, especially for the potential of my fantasy receivers.

I certainly don’t like Golladay’s potential if Barkley is healthy. The star running back gobbled up 195 targets in 29 NFL games from 2018-19.

Even if Golladay can stay healthy, expect a big drop in production. Sure, he’ll get his scores, especially in the red zone, but don’t be surprised if he comes in well under 1,000 receiving yards.

As a WR4 or flex fantasy option, you could do worse, but I wouldn’t touch Golladay until Round 7. Even then, I’d reluctantly take him depending on what the rest of the board looks like.
