Fantasy football draft: Where to target Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford

Analyzing Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford will be on a new team in 2021, after 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions. He was traded to the Rams early in the offseason and now leads the favorites to win NFC West. Below, we look at Matthew Stafford’s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

After missing half of the 2019 season due to back issues, he bounced back in 2020 to pass for 4,084 yards and 26 touchdowns. What can be expected out of Stafford in 2021 in terms of fantasy production?

Stafford’s ADP is 50.79, which ranks 59th among all non-defensive players. He has been selected as high as 12th overall and as low as 204th.

Stafford ranks 15th among quarterbacks behind Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow and ahead of Chicago Bears rookie QB Justin Fields.

Where should you take Matthew Stafford in your fantasy football draft?

Stafford is a much better quarterback for your actual football team than your fantasy team.

I believe he will thrive in the Rams offense but he is a traditional passer, so the only production he gives you is in passing numbers. He has eight 4,000-yards passing seasons and one 5,000-yard season; however, he has had only two seasons with at least 30 touchdown passes. Ten players had more than 30 touchdown passes last season.

Stafford should reach that, but there are many more valuable quarterbacks for your fantasy team.

If you missed out on the top quarterbacks early, you can build your team with top running backs and receivers first. I would not take Stafford before the sixth round.
