Falcons signing retired DT Eddie Goldman, per report

The Falcons are expected to sign veteran DT Eddie Goldman, again…

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to sign retired defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Goldman, 32, signed with the Falcons back in 2022 before changing his mind and retiring just two weeks later.

Goldman was reinstated one year later by the team and nearly returned in 2023 before changing his mind once again. It looks like the deal may finally come together two years later.

The Falcons needed a nose tackle as they plan to run a base 3-4 defense this season under defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake. Goldman’s signing would make some sense as the team just released second-year defensive lineman Ikenna Enechukwu on Tuesday afternoon.

Goldman has started 73 games since being selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears. The veteran defensive tackle has racked up 175 total tackles, 13 sacks and 21 QB hits over his six-year career.
