Ex-Broncos OC Rich Scangarello expected to join Eagles’ coaching staff

The Eagles are expected to hire former Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

Three weeks after being fired by the Broncos, Rich Scangarello appears set to land with a new NFL team.

Scangarello, who served as Denver’s offensive coordinator in 2019, is expected to join the Eagles’ offensive staff, according to a report from NFL Network (via Eagles Wire). Scangarello’s title in Philadelphia is not yet known.

Scangarello, 47, coached under Kyle Shanahan with the Falcons (quality control, 2015) and 49ers (quarterbacks, 2017-2018) before being hired by the Broncos last year. Denver’s offense finished in the bottom five of the NFL in points, yards, third-down percentage and red-zone percentage in 2019.

After moving on from Scangarello, the Broncos hired former Giants head coach Pat Shurmur to be their new offensive coordinator. Denver also hired New York’s former offensive coordinator — Mike Shula — to serve as the team’s new quarterbacks coach.

The Broncos are not scheduled to play the Eagles in 2020 but they will play them in 2021. View the team’s 2020 opponents here.
