ESPN’s college football power rankings apparently hate the Florida Gators

ESPN’s latest power rankings are extremely bearish on the Gators right now after a loss to Texas A&M and getting shut down by COVID-19.

Florida checked in at No. 14 in the latest edition of ESPN’s college football power rankings. The Gators had a pause in action on Saturday after more than 20 players on the team contracted COVID-19, in addition to coach Dan Mullen.

14. Florida Gators (2-1)

The Gators will have a while to get things straightened out on defense. They’ve scored at least 38 points in their first three games, but have given up more than 500 yards in total offense in two of those three games. Their game Saturday with LSU was rescheduled for Dec. 12 due to positive tests and quarantines within the Florida football program. And because of an extended pause of team activities in the Gators’ program, their game against Missouri, originally scheduled for this coming Saturday, has been moved to Oct. 31.

Up next: vs. Missouri (Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network Alternate)

UF is the fourth-highest ranked SEC team behind No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Georgia (who remained in the top five despite a 41-24 loss to the Crimson Tide) and No. 12 Texas A&M.

No other conference teams cracked the top 25. Auburn and Tennessee each dropped out after embarrassing losses at the hands of South Carolina and Kentucky, respectively.
