Earlier this week, ESPN released their updated FPI rankings for the first time this offseason.
The Football Power Index is a predictive rating system designed to measure team strength and project performance going forward. Ratings and projections will be updated on a daily basis throughout the season, but the rankings typically look different than most preseason polls.
Seven Big 12 programs were represented in the top 25 and two were among the top four. The rankings also noted that Texas has one of the toughest 2021 schedules, falling behind only Arkansas, Auburn and Kansas.
According to ESPN’s FPI, nine Big 12 schools make up the top 15 toughest college football schedules at the moment. Oklahoma is the only program not listed, essentially meaning they have the easiest schedule in the conference.
