Emeka Egbuka on pace to break an Ohio State football record

Ohio State football’s Emeka Egbuka had a strong performance against Marshall and is on pace to set an all-time receiving record for the Buckeyes.

When you think of the best receivers in the Ohio State football history books, many don’t immediately go to Emeka Egbuka, but he’s closing in on an all-time record. Egubka is 624 yards away being from the Buckeyes all-time leading receiver.

In his fourth season as a Buckeye, Egbuka is chasing the current leader, Michael Jenkins. Recent names like Chris Olave (No. 2) and Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 4) are high on the list as well.

Considering these records are including bowl game stats and there could be numerous games in the 12-team playoff format, there’s a good chance Egbuka could break the record should the Buckeyes finish out their nine games and get two more.

He is averaging 88.7 receiving yards per game now.

The Buckeyes will start their Big Ten play with the Michigan State Spartans at 7:30 p.m. ET on Peacock. They have nine more schedule games, and if Egbuka can continue his season average, he should be able to break the record within the last few weeks of November.

As the competition starts to heat up, Egbuka’s numbers may slip, so it’ll be interesting to see how the season progresses. For now, he’s on pace to set the record.
