E.J. Liddell out for indefinite time with non-COVID illness

Ohio State basketball forward E.J. Liddell is out indefinitely with a non-COVID illness according to an OSU spokesman.

The Ohio State basketball team suffered a blow in the personnel department of the men’s basketball program Friday. According to a release from an Ohio State spokesman, forward E.J. Liddell will be out for an indefinite time because of a non-COVID illness.

“I’m really disappointed for E.J. but we anticipate him returning here hopefully soon,” Holtmann said. “He is doing well and is going to be routinely evaluated by our medical staff.”

No other further details were provided by Holtmann or the university, but it’s obviously not the best news to lose your leading scorer and rebounder. In fact, Liddell had been quickly emerging as the best player on the team and looking like he was taking that expected step in development from last season.

Ohio State hosts Cleveland State at 4:00 p.m EST on Sunday at Value City Arena. It then opens Big Ten play next Wednesday at Purdue. If and when we get more information on Lidell, we’ll provide an update.

In the meantime, here’s to hoping for a speedy recovery and treatment plan fr whatever he is dealing with.
