E.J. Liddell on midseason Wooden Award watch list

Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell is one of 25 players named to the John R. Wooden Award preseason watch list on Wednesday.

Ohio State basketball forward E.J. Liddell has had a fantastic start to the year, so much so that he is one of 25 names appearing on the Wooden Award midseason watch list that was announced on Wednesday.

So far this season, Liddell is averaging 19.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest on 30.5 minutes per game. Lidell joins nine players from the Big Ten including on the watch list. Johnny Davis (Wisconsin), Zach Edey, Travion Williams and Jaden Ivey (Purdue), Keegan Murray (Iowa), Kofi Cockburn (Illinois), Hunter Dickenson (Michigan), Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana), and Keegan Murray (Iowa) are all included.

Handed out since 1976, the John R. Wooden Award recognizes the most outstanding collegiate player for both men and women. It is named after the iconic John Wooden who led the UCLA Bruins to 10 national championships as the Wizard of Westwood.

A list of fifteen players will be voted on from the start of the NCAA Tournament through the early rounds, with the winner being awarded at the end of the tournament in April.
