Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings Game 3 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Edmonton Oilers look to regain control of the series against the Los Angeles Kings Friday in Game 3 of their 1st-round series at Crypto.com Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oilers vs. Kings odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Tied 1-1

Edmonton has yet to play a full, 60-minute game in the series, and they head to LA looking to regain home-ice advantage. They held the Kings to 3 shots on goal (SOG) in the 1st period Wednesday and got out to a 2-0 lead in Game 2 only to see it evaporate in the 2nd period. This time, though, they had the answer with 2 goals in the 3rd to win 4-2. C Leon Draisaitl has carried the load with 3 goals in the series.

LA’s defense has blanked Oilers superstar Connor McDavid and kept him off the scoresheet for the most part with just 1 assist in 2 games. That’s unlikely to hold, and they’ll need another gear offensively to match it. All-Star Kevin Fiala (lower body) missed the 1st 2 games and is still questionable for Game 3.

Oilers at Kings projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (29-14-5, 2.75 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – reg. season) vs. Joonas Korpisalo (18-14-4, 2.87 GAA, .915 SV%, 1 SO – reg. season)

Skinner has been OK with a 2.78 GAA and .898 SV% in the series. Last time he was in LA, he stopped 20 of 21 shots in a 3-1 win. The Kings aren’t firing a barrage of shots at him so he’ll need to tighten it up a bit.

Korpisalo has been great on the other end, stopping 70 of 76 shots in the series for a 2.83 GAA and .921 SV%. He was 2-1 with a 3.01 GAA and .925 SV% in 3 starts against the Oilers in the regular season. He should expect another healthy dosage of shots again in this game.

Oilers at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 3, Kings 2

Moneyline

The Kings have to prove they can score enough to keep this a series. That’s going to be hard to do unless Fiala can return soon. At full strength, this is an even matchup with both teams taking 5 of the last 10 games against each other. Edmonton has taken 6 of the last 8 in LA.

Take the OILERS -155 for a HALF-UNIT.

Puck line/Against the spread

There have only been 2 multiple-goal games in the last 10 between these teams. And it’s very possible the Oilers sink an empty-netter to cash a -1.5. But I just don’t feel it here.

I will take LEON DRAISAITL ANYTIME GOAL (+110). He has goals in 3 straight games and 3 in the 2 games of this series.

Over/Under

It’s always risky taking Unders when the Oilers are involved. However, the Kings have kept them at bay. Game 2’s 4 goals were the most Edmonton scored on LA this season and in the last 7 games. The Under is 6-2 in the last 8 games between the teams.

Take the UNDER 6.5 (-120).
