Eagles may not be an option for Giants RB Saquon Barkley after all

Despite reports of a “mutual interest” between the Eagles and Giants RB Saquon Barkley, Philly may not be an option for Barkley after all.

Editor’s note: Saquon Barkley has agreed to terms with the Eagles.

This past week, the New York Giants chose not to place the franchise tag on star running back Saquon Barkley, which will make him eligible for free agency as early as Monday.

Two of the possible suitors who will be interested in Barkley’s services are the hated Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, but several others would love to land the versatile back.

There were reports that Barkley and the Eagles shared a “mutual interest,” but that may not be the case after all.

As Art Stapleton mentions, Barkley is not likely to end up in Philly and Dallas is not mentioned at all.

One team that was mentioned earlier this offseason as a possible landing spot for Barkley is Jim Harbaugh’s Los Angeles Chargers, but those rumors have died down.

Of course, there is still time for the Giants to reel Barkley back in before free agency officially begins on Wednesday, but since he’s come this far — why not test the free agent waters?
