Eagles land LSU WR Justin Jefferson in Todd McShay’s post-combine mock draft

The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine is complete and the Eagles have two months of film work and pro days to help decipher who the pick will be at No. 21.

The Birds for all accounts have zeroed in on one of the top-flight wide receivers that headline this historic draft class full of dynamic pass-catchers.

With Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb and Henry Ruggs III possibly off the board if the Eagles choose not to trade up, there’s still a handful of dynamic guys that can ensure that Howie Roseman doesn’t blow this pick.

Todd McShay is one of ESPN’s top NFL draft analysts and in his post-combine mock, he has Philadelphia comfortably settling for LSU’s dynamic slot receiver, Justin Jefferson.

Only the Ravens had fewer receiving yards from their wide receiver corps than the Eagles, and Greg Ward Jr. was the No. 1 option at the end of the 2019 season after injuries downed Philadelphia’s top three outside weapons. Alshon Jeffery isn’t getting any younger, and Nelson Agholor is a pending free agent. The Eagles’ 27-year-old quarterback Carson Wentz is in his prime and has no one to throw to outside the numbers. Jefferson posted 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns last season, looked great at the combine and has a high-end ability to find pockets in coverage and generate separation.

Jefferson ran much faster than expected with his 4.43 and after a 2019 season that saw him catch 111 passes for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns, the LSU star made himself some money.

The former SEC star would step right in for Agholor while freeing up room for Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert in the deep middle.

Jefferson has been compared to Keenan Allen and could become the type of weapon for Carson Wentz that allows the Eagles quarterback to regain his footing in MVP talks.
