Brandon Graham just secured his first Pro Bowl nod on Tuesday and the Eagles defensive end has no plans on slowing down.
During a Wednesday zoom meeting with the media, the Eagles captain and esteemed veteran admitted that he wants to play 15-seasons in the NFL.
Graham is currently in the midst of his 11th NFL season and it’s been one of his most efficient seasons as a pro.
Graham has logged seven sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 14 QB hits this season, as Jim Schwartz has done a great job of pacing the veteran’s snaps on gameday and utilizing the powerful veteran when he’s needed the most.
As far as his fit with the Eagles going forward, Graham signed a three-year, $40 million deal to return to Philadelphia, with $27 million in guarantees over the first two-years per Over The Cap.
The guarantees consisted of a $12.5 million signing bonus, a $3.5 million option bonus, and Graham’s 2019 and 2020 base salaries.
The Eagles have looming salary cap decisions to make and with Graham’s guaranteed money all paid out, Howie Roseman could ask the veteran to take a pay-cut, as his base salary would be $13 million, with an almost $18 million cap hit.
Working in Graham’s favor is the fact that he didn’t become a full-time starter until 2015, only appearing in 16 games his first two seasons, while also not playing more than 43.3 percent snaps in a season over the next three seasons.
Graham’s strip-sack of Tom Brady late in the fourth quarter of the Eagles’ 41-33 victory will go down as one of the biggest plays in Philadelphia sports history and that might’ve earned the former Michigan star the chance to retire as an Eagle.
