Eagles cornerback depth chart gets a big boost with the addition of Steven Nelson

The Eagles added another quality veteran to the roster, signing cornerback Steven Nelson to a one-year deal.

With Nelson in the fold, a perceived weakness will now become a strength heading into the training camp. Philadelphia is still somewhat thin at cornerback from a quality standpoint, but the overall talent of the secondary rose tremendously.

Cementing his reputation with the Steelers, Nelson started all 30 games he played, logging three interceptions, 17 passes defended, and 109 total tackles.

Last season during Pittsburgh’s 38-29 win on October 11 at Heinz Field, Nelson intercepted then Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz twice, on his way to his first multi-interception game.

An aggressive, physical, and smart football player, Nelson should help boost the Eagles’ secondary while giving Gannon a building block for the future.
