The 2022 season will feature a plethora of intriguing nonconference matchups for Big 12 teams.
Some of the most anticipated games include:
- Alabama vs. Texas
- Oklahoma vs. Nebraska
- Baylor vs. BYU
- Arizona State vs. Oklahoma State
- Iowa State vs. Iowa
Steve Sarkisian and Texas will welcome Alabama into Austin for a battle between two of college football’s most iconic programs. Alabama presents a huge opportunity for Texas to prove itself to the entire country.
Two other blue bloods will face off in week three. Historic rivals Oklahoma and Nebraska will get together again, this time each team will look a bit different. The Sooners have a new headman in Brent Venables and Nebraska landed former Texas quarterback Casey Thompson to lead their offense.
Baylor vs. BYU will give us a glimpse into the future of the Big 12 as the Cougars plan to join the conference for the 2023 season.
One of the more underrated nonconference games of the 2022 season is Arizona State vs. Oklahoma State. Both teams have been on the upswing of late and will return experienced quarterbacks, Jaden Daniels and Spencer Sanders.
Iowa State looks to get over the hump against other rival Iowa. The Cyclones have yet to beat the Hawkeyes in the Matt Campbell era.
