Legendary head coach Nick Saban was especially known for his advanced knowledge and abilities in coaching up the defensive side of the game, especially the secondary. Without Saban on the sidelines, many wonder how the Alabama Crimson Tide defense will perform in the upcoming 2024 season.
New head coach Kalen DeBoer has a strong offensive coaching background and seems prepared to take this talented roster to the College Football Playoffs and compete for a national championship. While he, alone, is not considered to be a top defensive coach, he has put together a coaching staff and roster that can uphold the Crimson Tide standard of having a physically imposing defense.
Recently, EA Sports revealed rankings and grades for the top-25 teams on offense and defense for its highly-anticipated, upcoming video game: EA Sports College Football 25. The Alabama offense ranks a bit higher than the defense, but the Tide still sits in the top-five for both.
On defense, Alabama is given an overall ranking of 90, which positions the Crimson Tide at No. 4, just behind the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 3 Oregon Ducks.
