Ducks in the running early on for elite 2026 QB recruit

When it comes to the stars of the future, it never hurts to get in on them early.

For the Oregon Ducks, that appears to be paying dividends so far, with 2026 quarterback Julian Lewis announcing his first top 8 on Wednesday, including the Ducks alongside teams like Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, USC, and LSU, among others.

Being a prospect in the 2026 class, Lewis has not yet been rated by any of the major recruiting outlets, but he is one of the most well-known players in his grade and boasts over three-dozen offers already.

Though there is plenty of time left before Lewis steps foot onto a college football field, he says that he’s not going to spend forever on his recruitment, and would rather keep things simple and visit the schools he included in his top 8 rather than trip across the country, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.

“I’m not a huge fan of this process, I just love to play football. People think I’m joking when I say that, but visits take up a lot of time. Now I’ll only visit these schools which will make things easier,” Lewis said. “It wasn’t tough to cut my list because I know what type of coaches I want to play for at the next level.”

So obviously, Lewis is intrigued by what Dan Lanning has cooking in Eugene. We will likely see him take a visit to Oregon at some point over the next year or two.
