Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki non-committal on future with the team

Was there a subtle jab at the Dolphins thrown in there?

Now that the Miami Dolphins season is over, tight end Mike Gesicki has to look toward the future.

Gesicki was set to hit free agency last offseason before the Dolphins used their franchise tag on the former Nittany Lion, in a somewhat surprising move.

The Penn State product recorded just 32 receptions and 362 yards in 2022, which were his lowest totals outside of his rookie season. However, he did find the end zone five times.

Gesicki also scored the lone receiving touchdown in the wild-card loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

After the contest, Gesicki was asked about his future with the team, to which he responded without a commitment either way.

However, he did say that he’s looking for more opportunities wherever he plays in 2023.

Despite paying Gesicki over $10 million in 2022, he played fewer snaps than Durham Smythe, which will likely hurt his value on the market this offseason.

When Gesicki is used, he’s effective, but he’ll likely have to find that with another team.
