Did Zach LaVine get surgery to prevent the Chicago Bulls from trading him to the Detroit Pistons? This is not to say that the UCLA alum’s right foot has not been a problem for him, or that his injury was in any way less than it has been framed as. But the timing of his decision — effectively tanking any chance of dealing away LaVine before the Feb. 8 trade deadline — was certainly an effective shield against such an outcome.
