Former Lady Vols golfer Diana Cantú returns to Rocky Top as head coach.

A former Lady Vol golfer is returning to Tennessee as head coach.

Diana Cantú was announced as the Lady Vols next head coach Tuesday. She replaces her mentor, Judi Pavon, and will be formally introduced at a press conference later this month. Cantú is in Illinois serving as one of the coaches for the International Team at the Arnold Palmer Cup.

A native of Mexico, Cantú played for Tennessee between 2006-10 and was a member of three UT teams that reached the NCAA championships in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Cantú returns to Rocky Top after a seven-year tenure as Maryland’s head coach.

In 2021, she was named Big Ten Coach of the Year after guiding the Terrapins to a second-place finish at the Big Ten championships, their best showing in school history.
