When the New York Giants targeted Kenny Golladay in free agency, there was never any doubt about his talent. But many questioned Golladay’s ability to stay healthy or if he was worth the money commanded by a No. 1 receiver in free agency.

The Giants and Golladay ended up agreeing to a four-year, $72 million deal that included $40 million guaranteed.

Everyone knows how impatient fans in New York can be and after many, many losing seasons, fans are ready for the Giants to turn the corner — not later, but now.

With Golladay hitting the field this week at mandatory minicamp, he was asked about proving himself in his new home city.

“100 percent. This is just a new chapter in my life right now. I definitely feel like I have to go out there and prove to other people including myself, it’s different for me. I got drafted to Detroit. Played all four years there. This is a whole different environment right now. So I’m just ready to accept the challenge and just ready to go to work,” Golladay told reporters on Tuesday.

In his time with the Detroit Lions, Golladay never had the pressure of living up to a rich contract like the one he just inked with Big Blue. That alone is a major change for the 27-year-old.

“To be honest, [being a No. 1] really doesn’t [add any pressure]. I’m confident in my game. I’m confident in my work ethic and I know Coach Judge is going to be on me. I hope JG (Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett) will be on me as well,” Golladay said. “I’m the type of person I never want to be content and I don’t ever want to let myself get like that and I’m going to work and make sure that I leave everything out there.”

Whether or not he feels it, the pressure on the Giants to improve this coming season and Golladay is one of the players who much lead the team’s turnaround.
