Former Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith was selected No. 10 overall in the 2021 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles as the third receiver taken off the board.
While he wasn’t the first receiver drafted, you wouldn’t be able to tell that by seeing how Eagles fans reacted to the news.
The pick was not originally guaranteed. After pre-draft trades, Philadelphia owned pick No. 12, but traded up to No. 10, bypassing the New York Giants, in order to secure the Heisman winner.
In a video posted to Eagles social media, Smith watched filmed reactions of fans watching Philadelphia select him.
The fans go crazy screaming his name, but Smith doesn’t see himself as that kid of guy.
The star receiver who prefers to stay out of the spotlight say’s that he usually shies away from something like that.
