If you haven’t heard, it’s transfer portal season, and rumors and news are flying. It’s not just about players coming into Columbus, but also players leaving for an array of reasons, including better NIL opportunities and more playing time.
One current Ohio State Buckeye who has been the focal point of the majority of these rumors is freshman quarterback Devin Brown. The former four-star recruit in the class of 2022 had to expect to be patient with C.J. Stroud on campus and Kyle McCord on the roster, but people always assume the worst and a portion of the fan base assumed he would leave for more immediate playing opportunities.
Brown made a statement on Tuesday by tweeting a clip from the film classic, “Rounders”. The memorable scene of Matt Damon’s character saying, “I’m not going anywhere” is an obvious nod to his decision to remain in Columbus.
Many expect Kyle McCord to take over the starting gig in 2023, but don’t be surprised if Devin Brown has every chance to be the guy as well.
