On Monday, the Tennessee Titans placed a franchise tag on Derrick Henry. On Tuesday, the details of the tag were released. Henry’s 2020 salary will be worth $10.278 million.
That means that Henry still can receive offers from other teams, with the Titans able to match or receive two first-round draft picks.
The Titans also have until July 15 to sign Henry to a long-term deal, or he will be paid $10.2 million in 2020.

After news broke that Henry was given a franchise tag, many people shared their opinions on twitter, including fellow current and former NFL players.
Damn they paid the QB but the RB who made the QB job 75% lighter he don’t get no love. Boy it’s cold, thank God that man come from a good family.

The fact that the titans put the tag on their work horse the man who put the team on his back week in and week out and payed someone who was only there for half a season really bothers me!!!

So they gave Ryan Tannehill a four year deal for this type of play and 30 million a year they should be asking Derrick Henry right now man how much u want it should start with at least half of that deal pic.twitter.com/sZRV3PrGoT

Clearly many think Henry should have been given way more, including myself. Ryan Tannehill landed a 4 year deal worth up to $118 million dollars.
Considering Henry led the NFL with a career-best 1,540 rushing yards on 303 carries, and also was the only running back in the NFL to average more than 100 rushing yards per game last season, he deserved way more.
He also had 446 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 83 carries during the playoffs.
And that’s not all. Henry is currently ranked third in NFL history averaging 126 yards rushing in the postseason.
Tannehill finished last season recording 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games.
He has also shown that’s he just getting started, and if this is any indication of where he is headed, there’s no doubt that the Titans will have to offer Henry a much better contract.
