Henry had this to say after accepting the award:

“It’s an honor to be named the Alabama Pro Athlete of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association/ The time I spent playing football for Coach (Nick) Saban and the Crimson Tide were some of the best of my life, and I will always cherish my teammates, coaches and the fans who made my career at Alabama so memorable.”

Last season, Henry led the NFL with a career-best 1,540 rushing yards on 303 carries, and he was the only running back in the league to post more than 100 rushing yards per game.

Henry added 446 rushing yards and two scores on the ground with 83 carries during the playoffs.

In the offseason, Henry signed a new contract that has him earning a $3 million base salary in 2020, and he received a $12 million signing bonus.

That’s not all. Henry is ranked No. 3 in NFL history, averaging 126 yards rushing in postseason play. Pretty remarkable for a guy some believed would be a “bust” on the highest level.

While at Alabama, Henry produced a total of 3,591 yards and 42 touchdowns while racking up another 285 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air.
