For the first time in its history, England is heading to the final of the European Championship. But it did come under some dubious circumstances.
In front of a crowd of 60,000 at Wembley, England defeated Denmark, 2-1, in extra time of their Euro 2020 semifinal matchup.
For Denmark, it was a difficult end to an otherwise remarkable run that started after Christian Eriksen’s cardiac emergency during the group stages. And while Denmark has every reason to be proud of what it accomplished in the tournament, it’s difficult to overlook *how* that run came to an end.
In extra time, England’s Raheem Sterling drew a penalty on a foul that really didn’t look like a foul at all.
