Former Clemson wide receiver and NFL star DeAndre Hopkins was just dealt some bad news.
The Arizona Cardinals wideout was just issued a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. This violation comes in response to his worst year in the NFL to date, where he dealt with injuries throughout the season.
Hopkins missed seven games throughout the regular season and the Cardinals’ postseason appearance dealing with a knee and hamstring injury. While we don’t know for sure what led to the usage of PEDs, it is safe to assume the injuries played a factor.
Since he entered the league in 2013, Hopkins has developed into one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. The three-time first-team All-Pro receiver has career totals of 789 receptions for 10,581 yards and 68 touchdowns.
It’s a tough break for Hopkins and the Cardinals, who will have to manage the first third of the NFL season without him.
