The Georgia Bulldogs will face former Georgia receiver Justin Robinson on Nov. 12. Robinson, a sophomore, is playing more at Mississippi State after transferring to Mike Leach and company following the national championship.
Mississippi State throws the ball more than any other team in the country. The Mississippi State Bulldogs have 448 passing attempts this season. To put that into perspective, Mississippi State already has more passing attempts through nine games this season than Georgia had in 15 games (407 passing attempts) during the 2021 college football season.
Robinson has played a larger role for the Bulldogs in recent weeks. The sophomore receiver has 15 catches for 154 yards and a touchdown this season.
Robinson, during his final year at the University of Georgia, finished the 2021 season with two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound wide receiver is a former four-star recruit out of Eagles Landing Christian in McDonough, Georgia.
Robinson, who wears No. 18 for Mississippi State, was a notable piece of Georgia’s top-ranked class of 2020. Kirby Smart and Georgia football signed five receivers in the class of 2020. Jermaine Burton and Justin Robinson transferred after the national championship. Ladd McConkey, Arian Smith and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint remain with the Georgia football program.
Robinson is one of six Georgia class of 2020 signees to transfer from UGA. Georgia’s top 10 signees from the class of 2020 are still with the program. That’s impressive retention in the current transfer portal era.
Mississippi State coach Mike Leach demands a lot from his receivers. Mississippi State throws the ball a great deal, and he expects his receivers to be on the same page as the quarterback.
