Dan Chisena’s speed could give him a chance to crack Vikings’ roster

While his name might not be a very well-known one, don’t sleep on undrafted rookie Dan Chisena.

The Vikings are in need of depth at wide receiver entering the 2020 season.

While his name might not be a very well-known one, don’t sleep on undrafted rookie Dan Chisena.

Chisena was clocked running around a 4.3 40-yard dash prior to the draft and at 6’3, 202 pounds, offers decent size.

While Chisena played just two years of football at Penn State (prior, he focused on track), he finds himself on an NFL roster.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity,” Chisena said via Vikings.com. “I think my speed is something that was able to catch the eyes of some coaches, particularly on special teams, being able to make an impact in that area of the game while continuing to develop as a wide receiver.”

Chisena only had three catches for 66 yards at Penn State last season, but the hope would be that he can fill some needs on special teams while developing as a receiver.

Making the roster seems like a longshot, but if the Vikings see enough untapped potential, a practice squad spot would be a great opportunity for Chisena.
