The Utah Jazz (14-4) host the Dallas Mavericks (8-10) Friday for a second straight game at Vivint Arena. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Mavericks-Jazz NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.
Both teams shot 46.2% from the field Wednesday but, Utah smoked Dallas 116-102 because they sunk four more 3-point attempts and eight more free throws. It was the third loss in a row for the Mavericks who’ve lost six of their previous eight and are 3-5 against the spread (ATS) in those games.
Utah is trending in the opposite direction, winning 10 straight games and covering the spread in all 10, to move atop the Western Conference. The Jazz are third in net rating and second in 3-point percentage and are the best rebounding team in the NBA.
The Jazz have had the Mavericks’ number since Dallas drafted PG Luka Doncic. Utah is 6-2 overall and 5-2-1 ATS dating back to the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

Mavericks at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Mavericks 114, Jazz 110
Money line (ML)
There’s no question the Jazz have little chance at making an NBA Finals run without All-Star SG Donovan Mitchell but they have a net negative rating when Mitchell is on the court compared to off.
While it’s probably an anomaly, maybe there’s less ball movement on the floor for Utah when Mitchell is in the game. In Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks, SF Joe Ingles and SG Jordan Clarkson both erupted with higher usage and All-Star C Rudy Gobert had his best game of the season with 29 points, 20 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals.
Also, this being the healthiest the Mavericks have been in weeks plus a buy-low spot for them and a sell-high spot for Utah gives me faith in Dallas. I lean MAVERICKS (+135) for a quarter-unit.
Against the spread (ATS)
According to Pregame.com, more than 70% of the action is on Utah but the bookmakers are moving the line as if bettors were backing Dallas. What that tells me is the House wants Jazz money. Don’t fall for it and take the insurance with Dallas.
GIMME MAVERICKS +3.5 (-110) for 1 unit.
Over/Under (O/U)
There are just more reasons to like OVER 222.5 (-110) here. First, the market slightly prefers the Over and the bookmakers are adjusting the total according to that. Second, the Over has cashed in 10 of the last 14 Mavericks-Jazz games.
Lastly, the combined O/U record of the officiating crew assigned to this game is 16-11 O/U this season. It’s more of a lean than a like but I’ll place a small bet on OVER 221.5 (-110).
