The Dallas Cowboys selected Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown with their third-round pick on Friday night. Overshown came off the board as the No. 90 pick in the draft.
The move is a surprising one given how little publicity the Longhorns linebacker received throughout draft season. Nevertheless, the Arp, Texas, native adds tremendous speed and athleticism to a defense that could use help at the position.
The former five-star high school recruit enjoyed an illustrious college career, capped by 96 tackles in his final season on the Forty Acres. He received first-team All Big 12 honors and finished as a Butkus Award semifinalist for the nation’s top linebacker.
Texas’ defensive star is a versatile piece to add to the Dallas defense. Overshown figures to bolster the Cowboys’ pass rush with elite edge rusher Micah Parsons and veteran end DeMarcus Lawrence. He could become a long-term option for the team at linebacker.
