Dabo Swinney compares Trevor Lawrence to Steph Curry

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has another lofty comparison for his former quarterback, Trevor Lawrence

At this point, we’ve heard it all about Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

But just days away from the 2021 NFL draft, Lawrence’s former head coach snuck in one last lofty comparison for his quarterback.

Appearing on the “Move the Sticks” podcast with NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney likened the presumed No. 1 overall pick to one of basketball’s most dynamic talents (via 247 Sports):

You watch Steph Curry shoot the ball and you just go, “Wow.” Just to sit there and watch this guy shoot the basketball. Well, that’s how you feel when you watch Trevor throw a football. When you get to see him live and you get to see him move, you just go, “Wow.” It’s just different. He’s a face-of-a-franchise guy.

I think Trevor can be an international superstar. There’s not many football players that have become international superstars. Part of that is just because we all wear helmets and uniforms and get identified by that. Then you take the helmets off and become a normal person and sometimes you blend in. Trevor doesn’t blend in.

If any Jags fans watched Curry drop 49 points Monday night, they get the idea. They’ll be hoping Lawrence brings that kind of dominance to Duval, and hopefully the same level of team success down the road.
