Could Andre Roberson be just what Nets need to add in offseason?

The Brooklyn Nets need to tinker with their roster a bit this offseason. Adding a strong defensive piece could prove useful.

Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks has made it clear his top priority this offseason is to re-sign sharpshooter Joe Harris. While that might be difficult since Harris’ greatest talent is the most important attribute a role player can have in the league right now, the deep threat has stated on multiple occasions he wants to stay in Brooklyn.

But it doesn’t all end there for Marks.

The Nets may not be looking for a third star, especially since Kevin Durant thinks the era of the Big 3 has come and gone, but adjustments are still expected to be made to the roster.

And with head coach Steve Nash placing an emphasis on building a strong defense, adding a standout on that end of the floor could be in Brooklyn’s future.

That’s where Brian Lewis of The New York Post sees Andre Roberson fitting in.

The unrestricted free agent to be made his return to the floor for the Disney bubble after missing all of 2018-19 and the entirety of 2019-20 before the hiatus so he could rehab his left petellar tendon, which he ruptured in January of 2018.

Between him being healthy, what he does on the floor and his tie to Brooklyn — his sister, Arielle, is Spencer Dinwiddie’s longtime girlfriend and they have a child together, which Lewis points out — Roberson might be just what the Nets need to have in order to make their run at the title.

“Yeah, I think him being healthy, he’s gonna be a phenomenal addition to a contender,” Dinwiddie told Lewis. “And obviously him being extended family will be dope to share that journey, and those high-level aspirations with him.”

Of course, Dinwiddie would prefer signing Roberson — his former Colorado teammte — over the Nets possibly shipping him out of Brooklyn for a strong defensive player, which has reportedly been discussed.
