The Buffalo Bills are looking forward with a sense of confidence after two-straight blowout wins.
While football can be broken down at a nauseating level on film in terms of technique and other analysis, sometimes the difference can’t be measured. That’s what both Buffalo coordinators talked about this week.
Specifically regarding the past two games, offensive coordinator Brian Daboll mentioned Buffalo’s O-line, as a unit, has had a great change in mindset.
“Since they’ve come back, they’ve had good attitudes. I think they’ve improved every day,” Daboll said via video conference. “That’s a really tough position to play. It’s not just one guy, you kind of have to have five guys acting as one. You’re battling every single play whether it’s the run or the pass.”
Elaborating, Daboll said the offensive line can’t be a ride at Darien Lake. The group has to keep itself even-keeled and steady.
“We’re not interested in riding a roller coaster. Talked to those guys about that last week. It’s easy to ride a roller coaster in this league,” Daboll said.
While the mindset shift by the offensive line might’ve made a difference the past two games… defensively, one that changed this offseason was the topic of discussion.
Linebacker Matt Milano is off to a fantastic start. So much so, Pro Football Focus has named him one of the top linebackers in the entire NFL so far this season.
Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier said Milano entered the 2021 season with an extra gear.
“Matt seems to be playing with so much more confidence. You can see it in his urgency,” Frazier said on Monday.
“He’s much more vocal than he’s ever been,” the coach continued. “There’s just a whole other level to his play… He’s been a good player for us all along which is one of the reasons he was re-signed to a good contract. But, he’s taken his game to a whole other level from an intensity standpoint and it has really become infectious with the rest of our players. Just love the the energy he’s bringing and the fire that he’s playing with. Hopefully that will continue.”
The Bills’ last two outings have certainly been bounce-back efforts after their season-opening loss and you can tell there’s a change in the mood of fans, too. Buffalo routed the Miami Dolphins and Washington Football Team, respectively, in those contests.
Could three be in the making?
It’s already expected the same could happen this week, considering the Bills have opened as big favorites over the Houston Texans.
That’d be another confidence booster for the Bills.
