Colts RB Jonathan Taylor agrees to 3-year extension

Jonathan Taylor and the Colts have agreed to a three-year extension, ending a contentious standoff.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor agreed to a three-year extension worth $42 million, according to multiple reports Saturday.

The deal reportedly includes $26.5 million guaranteed and makes Taylor one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL on an annual basis.

The No. 41 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Taylor led all rookies in rushing yards and followed that up by leading the entire league in rushing yards during his second season.

Unfortunately, Taylor dealt with an ankle injury throughout the 2022 season, and the entire Colts offense collapsed behind a porous offensive line and extremely poor play from the quarterback position. He was limited to a career-low 861 rushing yards in 11 games.

After an offseason of turmoil behind the scenes and a contract dispute that became very public, the two sides were able to get a deal done.

Now, they can focus on competing for the top spot in the division with a rushing attack that has immense upside.
