Colts have 20/1 odds to win Super Bowl LVII

How did the Matt Ryan trade impact the Colts’ Super Bowl odds?

The Indianapolis Colts made their move for quarterback Matt Ryan, bringing him into the building after having to spend just a third-round pick. Because of that move, their odds to win Super Bowl LVII increased.

Before the trade for Ryan, the Colts had no viable plan for a starting quarterback and their Super Bowl odds sat at 30/1. Now, those odds have increased in the Colts’ favor, bumping them up to 20/1, per Tipico Sportsbook.

At 20/1 odds, the Colts are tied with the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals.

Those odds are tied for the sixth-best in the AFC behind the Buffalo Bills (11/2), Kansas City Chiefs (9/1), Denver Broncos (13/1), Los Angeles Chargers (15/1) and Cleveland Browns (15/1).

Adding Ryan to the offense likely doesn’t make the Colts true Super Bowl contenders. There are far too many holes at positions like left tackle, wide receiver and cornerback to put them in that tier realistically.

What the move does is gives them a strong chance at winning the division, something they haven’t done since 2014. The Titans will be in the way of that but the addition of Ryan should give the Colts a much more stable offense, which was their Achilles heel down the stretch of the 2021 season.

The Colts will be looking to add more weapons for the veteran quarterback this offseason as the team sets its sights on taking the AFC South crown in 2022.
