Colts’ 2020 rookie class receives ‘A’ grade

NFL.com is bullish on Indy’s rookie class.

The Indianapolis Colts rookie class is coming off of a strong season and has been receiving strong praise all around for their production to go along with the promise they showed in their first season.

As NFL.com is going through and grading the rookie classes by division, they arrived at the AFC South where the Colts led with a near-perfect grade. The Colts received an “A” grade followed by the Jacksonville Jaguars (B-), Houston Texans (D-) and Tennessee Titans (F).

Led by running back Jonathan Taylor, who led all rookies in rushing yards, and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who flashed his ability to be the WR1, the future looks bright for this class on their shoulders alone.

But then the emergence of safety Julian Blackmon gets added on top of that after he was in the Defensive Rookie of the Year conversation to begin the season. He cooled off a bit in the second half, but he showed he can play at a high level in the NFL.

Then, the Colts got some strong production from linebacker Jordan Glasgow and cornerback/return man Isaiah Rodgers. Glasgow played the third-most snaps on special teams while Rodgers had the third-highest kick return average (28.8).

Four players from the rookie class were named to the PFWA All-Rookie team, which included kicker Rodrigo Blankenship. We also gave our grades for the rookie class and found them to be favorable as well.

With another strong rookie class in 2020, the Colts will continue to build the majority of their roster through that path.
