College football insiders expecting major season for Texas in 2023

“If not now then when, Texas?”

It’s one thing for fans of a program to be bought into how much success they can have but when well respected minds within the media begin to hop on the bandwagon it could be a sign of things to come.

That is exactly the case with 247Sports‘ Chris Hummer and Brad Crawford. The two recently broke down the best win total bets in college football for the 2023 season, and when it came to Texas who is currently slated at 9.5, they both said they’d take the over.

The Longhorns are poised to have an electric offense and a stout defense, and will also benefit from the fact that the Big 12 appears to be down. Hummer broke down the reasons why he thinks Texas will exceed expectations citing returners at key positions, and the fact that they have a clear path to glory.

“If not now then when, Texas? Outside of the Alabama game in Tuscaloosa, the Longhorns are going to be favored in every game this year. And they should be! This Texas team is loaded. Most of a top 25 defense returns and the Longhorns’ skill talent is remarkably deep. Is this projection putting a lot on Quinn Ewers to be the QB we think he can be? Of course. But I’m going to bet on his talent 10 out of 10 times. Texas wins at least 10 games and plays for a Big 12 title.”

If Texas doesn’t at least win the Big 12 in 2023 it would be fair to say that barring an onslaught of injuries, this team and season would go down as a colossal disappointment.
