College Football Big Game Reaction: Ohio State, North Carolina & More

Quick reaction to the biggest college football games of Week 10: Wake Forest at North Carolina, Ohio State at Nebraska, Auburn at Texas A&M, Michigan State at Purdue, LSU at Alabama

Ohio State 26, Nebraska 17 Reaction

Ohio State got through the grind.

Everyone’s going to dismiss a win over a Nebraska team that’s 3-7 now, but this Husker team is a tough out.

It’s good enough to battle and ball with everyone, but not good enough to come up with a real, live win over a decent team.

It had its chances to get by Michigan … and lost.

It had its chances to get by Michigan State … and lost.

It had its chances to get by Ohio State, but the passing game stalled, the offense couldn’t get that one big second half play, and …

It was a loss.

Ohio State’s offense stalled, it settled for field goals in the second half instead of touchdowns, and it wasn’t as pretty a win as it could’ve and should’ve been, but there’s nothing that slips here.

It was a road win, it was tough, and it was part of the grind of the Power Five conference schedule.

Now do more, Ohio State.

Coming up with close to 500 yards of total offense was great, and CJ Stroud went off for over 400 yards through the air – uhhh, Nebraska, you might want to adjust when a receiver like Jaxon Smith-Njigba is catching 15 passes for 240 yards and a score with Garrett Wilson out – but it’s November and the Buckeyes still aren’t sharp enough.

Oh, they’re more than talented enough to beat Purdue, and Michigan State, and Michigan, and whatever is coming out of the West in a Big Ten Championship – likely Wisconsin – but can it get through all of that unscathed? Nebraska is stronger than it’s record, but Ohio State has to be better.

It can get by the Huskers with three second half field goals, two turnovers, and too many penalties. If can’t get by Georgia, or Alabama, or Cincinnati in the big tournament with that.

But they didn’t play their best and still won.

It’s on to Purdue.
