Colin Cowherd says Caleb Williams is a generational NFL draft talent

Caleb Williams will either back up the big takes or shatter them.

Commentator Colin Cowherd loves USC and loves Caleb Williams. That isn’t really new, but it’s a reality which is amplified in these weeks before the 2024 NFL draft.

Caleb Williams is widely viewed as the best quarterback prospect and the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft, but that’s not a unanimous view. You will find evaluators who think Drake Maye is better. You will find pundits who will cape for Jayden Daniels or Michael Penix. There is a subset of commentators who have tried to stir the pot and suggest that Caleb is not an ideal teammate. That’s an absurd take, but it exists in the environment surrounding the draft and the NFL scouting combine. Caleb was asked some weird — and not very charitable — questions at the combine. The vast majority of media personalities respects him, but there is a definite pocket of doubt.

Colin Cowherd is speaking against that minority faction.

The real question surrounding Caleb Williams is the NFL team he lands with. Can Caleb transcend a bad organization and transform it, or does he absolutely need the right fit to be good? We will find out soon enough.
