C.J. Stroud wins second straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week award

It’s back-to-back from C.J. Stroud! #GoBucks

Ohio State may have lost to a motivated and determined Oregon team Saturday, but freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud had himself a day … and a half. The ultimate outcome wasn’t what anyone wanted, but Stroud completed 35 of 54 passes (64.8 percent) for 484 yards and three touchdowns.

For his efforts, Stroud has been recognized as the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week for the second time in a row. He was also recognized after his performance against Minnesota from Week 1.

Stroud is putting up some pretty lofty numbers. After just two weeks, he has completed 48 of 76 passes for 778 yards and seven touchdowns. The coaching staff would no doubt like to cut down on the occasional costly interception like what we saw late in the game against Oregon, but the freshman appears to be settling into his role under center just fine.

Stroud will try to build on his performances thus far when the Buckeyes host Tulsa Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
