Chuck Clark believed to have suffered serious knee injury

Very unfortunate news for Clark, if true

The Jets may have been dealt a blow at the safety position that may have helped spurn the signing of Adrian Amos.

Per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, safety Chuck Clark is believed to have suffered a serious knee injury. Connor Hughes of SNY also reports Clark is getting a second opinion but “it doesn’t look great now.”

The Jets acquired Clark from the Baltimore Ravens back in March for a 7th-round pick in 2024. Clark was expected to start in the defensive backfield alongside Jordan Whitehead, who recently restructured his contract. That spot now likely belongs to Amos, as the injury to Clark likely helped spark the Jets’ interest in the former Packer.

Rosenblatt reports the Jets weren’t looking at Amos until recently but that the opportunity to start in New York was key for Amos. He’ll now get that opportunity with Clark potentially done, at least for a while, though no official word has come through as of Tuesday evening.

This is a very unfortunate break for the Jets. Clark was a very good acquisition to help retool what was arguably the weakest spot on the defense last season. The signing of Amos will help soften the blow a bit, but Clark had been making quite the impression on the team.

If Clark is indeed out, the safety group would be Whitehead, Amos, Ashtyn Davis, Tony Adams, Jarrick Bernard-Converse and Trey Dean.
