Club América and Chivas will face off Wednesday night in the first leg of a highly anticipated Liga MX Clausura semifinal.
Chivas will host the first leg in Guadalajara, before the Súper Clásico rivals move to the Estadio Azteca on Saturday for the second leg.
América needed a last-gasp goal from Julián Quiñones on Saturday night to advance past Pachuca, as the top seed avoided a major upset.
Sixth-seeded Chivas, meanwhile, pulled off an upset of its own by defeating third-seeded Pachuca 1-0 on aggregate. Fernando Gago’s side held on for a scoreless draw on Saturday in the second leg at Toluca, securing advancement past the quarterfinals.

The rivals have met 12 previous times in the Liguilla, with América advancing on eight of those occasions. Chivas, however, has advanced the last two times, including in the 2023 Clausura.
Chivas and América met in the Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 in March, with América securing a convincing 5-3 win on aggregate.
The winner of this tie will move into the final, where they’ll face either Monterrey or Cruz Azul.
