The start of a new season brings new opportunities and hopes for every team in the NFL. The new season for the Kansas City Chiefs is a chance to repeat as champions and witness the ongoing growth of their young players.
A player that will have more eyes on him this season will be Isiah Pacheco. The second-year running back was a breakout star in 2022 as a rookie, becoming the starter midway through the season. He is expected to carry the momentum into this season following his injury, as he spoke with reporters reflecting on his first game last year following practice on Tuesday.
“Just the noise that everybody was talking about how fast the game is.” said Pacheco, “For me, the most important thing was eliminating the distractions, and that’s the mentality I need to have going forward and just keep it rolling.”
Pacheco only has one year of experience as a professional but has already passed on his knowledge to this year’s rookies.
“Definitely told them there is gonna be a lot of distractions, a lot of fan activities, but a lot of fans calling your name, so it’s exciting.” said Pacheco, “But I’m saying, well, when you know you got the job ahead of you. You gotta lock in and eliminate distractions.”
Pacheco was the Chiefs leading rusher last season but could see a jump in his numbers if he can stay healthy with the additional carries. The Chiefs should also expect to see a mix of Clyde Edwards-Helaire and veteran Jerick McKinnon in the mix.
