[autotag]Charlie Campbell[/autotag] hopes to be very busy in 2024.
After a failed attempt at Dana White’s Contender Series, Campbell (8-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) finally got his shot in the octagon and impressed in his debut when he knocked out Alex Reyes in the first round at Noche UFC this past September.
Campbell was in talks to step in on short notice against Jeka Saragih at UFC Fight Night 232 on Nov. 18, but the bout didn’t materialize. He’ll look to continue riding his momentum next year.
“I am healthy and I’m looking forward to staying active,” Campbell told MMA Junkie. “I’d like to get in like five (fights). I think that would be pretty doable if I’m healthy, I’m active. That’s my thing: I think fighters should fight.”
Campbell is known to cut a good promo, but with his division being so stacked, he knows he won’t be short of opportunities.
“There’s a lot of lightweights out there. There’s probably a lot of guys that aren’t booked,” Campbell said. “Let’s just make it happen. For me, I’m not afraid to go in there. I’ve lost twice in my pro career. I have nothing to lose. I’m out there to try to either succeed or identify a way that doesn’t work. I want to go out there. I want to stay active.
“Everyone else should feel the same way. They shouldn’t be afraid to lose. I certainly am not. I’m going out there, I’m looking to do every bit of damage I can do to somebody, and if it doeesn’t work out, I know I’m trying my best and it should be more than enough. I know I’m going to get better with each fight. I could finish anybody, and I’ll do that to whoever I fight next.”
