Chargers sitting pretty in draft position after loss to Raiders

The Los Angeles Chargers moved up two spots in the draft order after their loss to the Oakland Raiders.

The Los Angeles Chargers suffered defeat to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

The loss dropped them to 5-10 on the season, but they managed to increase their position in the 2020 NFL draft.

After being slotted to pick ninth entering the Week 16 matchup, the loss, as well as the Cardinals and Jets winning, bumped them up two spots to the No. 7 overall selection.

Here is a look at the order:

Los Angeles, the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars all have 5-10 records. The Jags have a lower strength of schedule, so that’s why they are ahead of the Bolts.

The Chargers have the chance to bump up a little bit more, but that would require them losing to the Chiefs, as well as the teams winning that are ahead of them in the order in Week 17.

It wouldn’t be a huge jump, but the Bolts could very well be in a great position to lock up their future franchise quarterback picking that high, as well as being able to land top talent along the offensive line in Round 2.
