Chalk up another 5-star visitor for Florida’s season opener

Florida’s recruiting staff is scheduling a massive weekend for the season opener against Utah and a five-star cornerback just got added to the visitor list.

Florida’s season opener against Utah on Saturday will be the first under Billy Napier and his staff. While the game may be priority No. 1, the recruiting staff will be busy hosting a mammoth group of commits that just grew by one, according to 247Sports.

Five-star cornerback [autotag]Charles Lester III[/autotag], a member of the class of 2024 at Riverview High in Sarasota, is the latest blue-chip recruit to announce his plans to attend the Utah game. He named the Gators in his top 10 over the summer along with Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and USC.

Lester’s first and most recent trip to Florida came in March. He left town with an offer in hand but has since been to FSU and Alabama twice each. The Crimson Tide are the frontrunners currently. On3’s recruiting prediction machine has Alabama as an 85.3% favorite with FSU at 3.7% in second place and Florida at 2.2% in third.

He’s ranked in the top 25 of his class by three of the four major recruiting services. On3 is the only one that has him lower than No. 25 and he’s still ranked No. 64 overall and eighth among cornerbacks in the class of 2024. The 247Sports composite ranks him as the third-best corner in the class, though, and No. 23 nationally.

Regardless of which service one prefers, Lester is a priority target for any Power Five program he’s willing to talk to.
