Celtics injury update: Robert Williams III OUT vs. Milwaukee Bucks in Game 4 with knee soreness

It’s the same knee he had surgery on at the end of the regular season, concerningly.

The Boston Celtics shared concerning injury news regarding big man Robert Williams III shortly before the tipoff of their Game 4 matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, with the team relating that the Texas A&M Product would not be playing after feeling soreness in his left knee.

That would be the same one he came back from a meniscal tear surgery on in the first round of the East playoffs, Williams taking the longer-term picture into account with the decision to sit in such a crucial game. Head coach Ime Udoka related that he had not felt any discomfort in Game 3, but that Timelord “had some soreness today that flared up out of nowhere” as it has a few times since the surgery.

The move to protect the Celtics center’s health is of course the right call, and teammate Grant Williams will get the start alongside Grant Williams for tonight’s game.
