Celtics forward Grant Williams’ shooting is ‘night and day’ from his rookie season, says Boston’s Jayson Tatum

Williams is now a top-five shooter in the league from beyond the arc.

Don’t look now, but Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams has quietly worked his way out of one of the worst shooting slumps in the history of the NBA to start his pro career to being one of the league’s moth accurate marksmen from beyond the arc, connecting at 45.3% on significant attempts, good for fifth in the NBA at present.

And the talkative Tennessee product has been a critical component of the team’s under-developed offense that has been desperate for some source of scoring outside of its two star forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Williams has been providing reliable spacing with his unassuming shot that isn’t going to stay off opponents’ scouting reports much longer.

“Grant is shooting the lights out. Don’t let him let you hear that,” joked Tatum after he helped the team beat the reigning champion Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night “But let him hear that.”
