CBS Sports tabs Texas as one of five unranked teams that could finish in top 10

CBS Sports recently selected five unranked teams in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll that could end the season in the top 10.

Preseason college football rankings should always be taken with a grain of salt.

Many programs across the country will have new faces or head coaches leading their teams, while others still have ongoing position battles.

It’s best to have a wait and see approach. Teams have to prove it on the field week in and week out to deserve their place in the AP Top 25 Poll throughout the season.

Texas is beginning the 2022 college football season unranked in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll. However, David Cobb of CBS Sports tabbed the Longhorns as one of five unranked teams that could actually conclude the season as a top 10 team in the country.

While Texas’ potential is certainly through the roof, many feel it will take another year or two for the Longhorns to truly become College Football Playoff contenders.
